How much is JobSeeker Payment in 2026?

From March 2026, JobSeeker Payment is $762.70 per fortnight for a single person with no children, plus a $14.10 Energy Supplement. Single people with a dependent child or aged 55+ (after 9 months) receive $816.90 per fortnight. Partnered recipients receive $693.10 each per fortnight plus a $12.80 Energy Supplement.

How much can I earn on JobSeeker before my payment is reduced?

You can earn up to $150 per fortnight before your JobSeeker Payment is reduced. Between $150 and $256 your payment reduces by 50 cents for every dollar earned. Above $256 it reduces by 60 cents per dollar. If partnered, your partner's income over $1,124 per fortnight also reduces your payment by 60 cents per dollar.

What is the asset test for JobSeeker Payment?

From March 2026, the asset test limits are: single homeowner $301,750, single non-homeowner $543,750, couple homeowner $451,500 (combined), couple non-homeowner $693,500 (combined). If your assets exceed these limits, you receive $0 — it is a hard cutoff. Your principal home is not counted as an asset.

Who is eligible for JobSeeker Payment?

JobSeeker Payment is for people aged 22 to Age Pension age who are looking for paid work, temporarily unable to work due to illness or injury, or doing approved activities to improve employment prospects. You must be an Australian resident and meet income and assets tests. If under 22, Youth Allowance for job seekers may apply instead.

Do I get a higher rate if I'm over 55?

Yes. If you are 55 or older and have been receiving JobSeeker Payment continuously for 9 months or more, you qualify for a higher rate of $816.90 per fortnight (compared to $762.70 for those under 55 with no children).
